I am planning to set up an IQ multiplex (16.0) with a writer/coordinator and two readers and use logical server and login redirection to make high availability to be used by application for queries. Note that application needs only one reader and two readers are being created just for HA purpose.
Has any one used it or is aware of such a set up? Are there any best practices and special considerations involved here? Any caveats?
The application connects to the database using jconn and connection is made on a per request / query basis and then closed.
We want the HA to be automatic without any manual intervention in case one reader node fails so next incoming queries are automatically redirected to the surviving reader node? Is it a realistic goal that can be achieved using login redirection.
Does any one have detailed steps to achieve it? Any other way of doing it without any third party tools?
